BVSc is the only course with the assurance of green ink government job on course completion day. At present India needs 90,000 veterinarians needed annually, only 45,000 are available. So now you can imagine how many opportunities waiting for veterinary graduates. A bright future awaits those who choose veterinary and allied subjects for graduation.
BVSc is one of the most sought-after MBBS courses in India. A number of private dairy, poultry and livestock feed industries were coming up across the country and the industries were in need of veterinarians from the production level to make the final product. Available statistics showed that the country required 90,000 veterinarians annually but services of only 45,000 vets were available.
Manu universities offering Bachelor of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Fisheries were the two main courses, approved by the Veterinary Council of India. Some universities offering B.Tech courses in Food and Dairy and Poultry Production Technologies too. Annually, the livestock sector in the country recorded a 6 % growth rate, while the poultry sector was 8% and the fisheries sector recorded a maximum of 10%. Thanks to industrialists, who setting up of many private dairy units across, the country required the services of vets.
Now a day’s many people are opting for graded chicken or fish items triggering more opportunities to above courses. So the poultry industry requires the services of the vets from the production until the product is delivered in a supermarket. A similar trend was started in the inland and marine fisheries sectors. In these sectors, the veterinarians were required in both government and private organizations.
There is a great demand for those who have specialized in fisheries sciences in South East Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam.
Yet another opportunity for those who completed veterinary sciences course is the treatment for pet animals and livestock. In the Metro’s, pet animal treatment is the most profitable, while services of veterinarians are in great demand for treating the livestock in the rural areas too.
