Epass scholarship brings a new revolution in AP Higher Education system…
Epass scholarship in recent days has become very popular due to its extent of services to the people who are unable to meet their needs for education. Due to wide usage, this has become the Epass Scholarship, which was actually called Post Metric Scholarship for the reason that this scholarship is issued after Metric education. Scholarship under this service is provided to professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Technology, Management, Agriculture, Veterinary. etc. This scholarship is provided to all the students who meet the respective criterion.
- SC and ST candidates with an annual income less than 2Lakhs INR,
- BC and OC candidates with an annual income less than 1Lakh INR
The candidates of OC and minority caste are issued with the scholarship under the Economically Backward category. Even Physically Challenged candidates and minority candidates are also eligible based on the saturation of disability and minority respectively.
There are many students who were benefited and being benefited with this scheme and I’m one of them. This scheme has brought professional education to the doorstep of every individual student of the state. The benefits of Epass Scholarship extends from Intermediate till Post Doctorate level of education. Not many people know that even candidates pursuing PhD and Post Doctorate Fellowship are also eligible for fee reimbursement. There are benefits and drawback in the scheme.
The flag benefit is that thousands of students are able to get professional education. The main drawback is that there are many people applying for the benefit, though they are not actually eligible for the scheme. For example, there are certainly sought of people who apply for the scholarship with an annual income greater than 1Lakh rupees (in case of BC candidates), 2Lakh rupees (in case of SC and ST candidates) by producing the necessary documents, though they are not in the eligible category.
There may be students who join the course just to take advantage of the scholarship without attending any class. In order to avoid such discrepancies, the Govt. has taken certain measures.
- The scholarships are renewable only by the promoted candidates.
- The candidate must maintain a minimum attendance of 75%.
- Only the students admitted thru convener quota are eligible for the application.
The govt. has also taken certain measures to reduce the burden on a common man, by making the entire system of application for the scholarship available thru online. Candidates can apply and renew the applications anytime before the final date mentioned by authorities. At the time of online application, the following are the mandatory certificates that are to be scanned and uploaded.
- Caste certificate (Original copy),
- Income certificate (Original copy),
- SSC marks list (Photocopy),
- Intermediate marks list (Photocopy),
- Ration card (Photocopy),

The concept of Epass Scholarship or Post Metric Scholarship is helping the people under the poverty line to a great extent. Though the govt. is facing numerable issues to manage the scholarship scheme, the govt. is ready to take the challenge by considering the wide range of benefits being provided to the applicants.
