The state-owned telecom giant BSNL was established in the 19th century, but later it was named to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited when India overtook it, and as it is one of the best during those times, it leads the telecom industry almost single-handedly with BSNL broadband services from bsnl.co.in along with new mobile offers, but with the privatization of the telecom industry, BSNL slowly lost its pace and have struggled to sustain in the market.
Somehow, with its strength, it stood steadily and now has seen the huge growth when compared to its competitors when other telecom industry giants are trying to sustain. Yes, you heard it right and BSNL is leading the growth chart of the AGR (Adjusted Growth Revenue) results published by TRAI for the third quarter of the current year.
With Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio entering into the telecom market, the equations are totally altered, every network operator is trying to provide some or the other free benefits to their customers to sustain in the market. BSNL too has changed its game plan and offered many wonderful plans which can’t be resisted.
This had put BSNL leading the growth chart for Jan- Mar quarter with almost 18% growth rate and in the second place stood reliance Jio with a 15% growth rate. While the leading telecom operators like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea had seen a decrement in their sales. Whatever the reasons may be, BSNL has stood up straight in the competition and lead the growth chart.
Airtel was the leader before Jio entering the market with consistent growth rates. It was succeeded by Idea and Vodafone. Mainly they ruled the telecom sector at one point of time when BSNL is struggling to be on the chart and due to poor signals and not so effective plans, BSNL lost its customers. It had tried many ways like implementing new plans and offers to regain its former charisma, but somehow it couldn’t gain.
The idea was the highest loser with 15% following Vodafone with 12% decrease rate and Airtel saw a decline of 9% growth among the top 5 telecom operators in India, where BSNL and Reliance Jio are the only carriers to show consistent growth rate in revenue collection.
With Jio offering many benefits to its customers, BSNL too changed plans and validity details along with offering free services like mobile data, free roaming and selected plans for their valued and beloved customers.
At one point in time, there was only competition between the private telecom giants like Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea. Others would be standing the row with consistent decline and they mainly focused on generating revenue and BSNL does not only provide mobile network, but also broadband services, FTTH (Fiber to Home) services and value-added services.
This lets BSNL stand on the top of the chart, as if one fails, the other would retain their loss. BSNL new plans in various sectors made it mandatory to own a new BSNL sim card. This helped in achieving the target growth.
It was once believed that eventually, BSNL would lose its sustainability in the telecom market. With the growth rate of around 18%, it has shut down the mouths of all its critics and enjoying the growth.
The chairman and managing director of BSNL said that they are hoping for the same results throughout the year and to the coming year too. As the market of telecom industry has disrupted and a lot many companies are in the red zone, it is impossible to stop the growth of BSNL even in the coming year. From 2019-2020, they will be in net profit if they achieve the said feat.
BSNL gained its customers from companies those were closing operations. The made mid-course corrections and are back with a bang! Gradually, there is no point in focusing mainly on revenue. The customer’s market share increased their value to its peers and asked them to rejoin their lost customers and gain a positive feedback.
Only 2 (BSNL and JIO) major organizations out of 5 (Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Jio, and BSNL) have seen the significant growth in their revenue and if this condition follows this financial year, then BSNL would become heart favorite and attains it lost customers’ faith in them and we wish this would come true one day and as healthy competition between the peers helps customers to get various offers with minimal pay.
