Aadhaar number submission – Oil marketing companies make Aadhaar mandatory to supply subsidized cylinders from February 15 in Hyderabad city and Ranga Reddy districts…
Andhra Pradesh government was looking for postponement on February 15 is the last date for Aadhaar linked delivery of LPG cylinders for the consumers. AP state government expressed its inability to issue Aadhaar cards to implement the rule requiring subsidized gas cylinders to be provided only to those with Aadhaar cards by February 15, in Hyderabad and Ranga reddy districts.
An announcement made by oil companies ‘the LPG refills would be delivered by them to households only on payment of the full cost of Rs.1,030 per refill from February 15, without allowing any subsidy. The subsidy due from the central government on each refill would be remitted directly into the bank account of the Aadhaar cardholder concerned as envisaged under the plan.
Still, large numbers of people in Hyderabad city and Ranga Reddy districts do not receive Aadhaar cards. The rule requiring subsidized gas cylinders should only to be implemented after a 100 per cent enrollment is achieved. Some agencies are asking consumers to open fresh accounts; others are asking them to link their existing bank account number to the Aadhaar number. Deputy DG, UIDAI says “There is no need to open a fresh account. Existing account numbers can be submitted. Accounts in all nationalized and scheduled banks are valid,”.
Oil marketing companies had recently announced on this rule as part as central government pilot project in Hyderabad city and Ranga Reddy districts. The AP government has sought an extension of the last date and it needs some time to complete the task. Minister for civil supplies has written a letter to Union petroleum minister stating that the state government cannot implement the rule from February 15 under these conditions.
